Web Page Sales Letter Guideline
Those who know my “style” of writing understand what it takes to put together a One-Of-A-Kind layout for a web page sales letter that’ll “Rock” the house for your online media advertising campaigns.
Average to Hyped up sales letters we see today, either misleads the visitor, confuses them or takes forever to understand.
Below is a guideline that I use if I want to do what I call “Hard Sell.” This can be used in a typical “homepage” environment where you want your visitor to really engage some thought into what you’re offering, while taking the appropriate steps in getting them to take action.
Always remember…when writing sales copy for a web page, it is no different than writing a copy for direct mail. It STILL must have the four main ingredients:
Attention – Interest – Desire – Action.
Start at TOP and work your way down in order:
1. HEADLINE- Packed full of exciting, compelling benefits to attract your visitors.
2. SUBHEADLINE- Elaborate on the benefits of reading this letter and create urgency so your visitor MUST read it today!
3. FROM- (Your name) (Date)
4. GREETING- (Dear Friend,)
5. INTRODUCTION- Create the problem that you’re going to solve for your reader.
6. BODY- Establish your credibility.
7. BODY- Relate to the problem and relate to your reader.
8. BODY- Explain how your product solves this problem and provide an overview of how it works.
9. BODY- Detail the benefits and features of your product for emphasis:
* Benefit #1 and explain
* Benefit #2 and explain
* Benefit #3 and explain
And so on…
10. BODY- State the price of your product and explain why you’ve chosen that price point, and why it’s fair.
11. CLOSE- Pile on the bonuses (if any) and create tons of added value so your visitors would feel silly if they didn’t take you up on your offer.
12. CLOSE- Include your strong “guarantee” and remove the risk entirely so customers can purchase without feeling nervous.
13. CLOSE- Ask for the order. Clearly and specifically guide your reader to make the purchase.
14. SIGN OFF- (Regards) (Your name) (Your Title)
15. P.S. – Include a strong “P.S.” to restate the benefits of your offer and create even more urgency
The point I am making is that:
l) You’ve got to grab the reader’s attention…
2) You’ve got to “interest them” with something that appeals to them…
3) You’ve got to “further stimulate” them with something (catch-phrase) that makes them “desire” the product or service…
4) Demand that they act immediately…
